This luxurious bar is made up of 4 mint essential oils, plus our goats milk soap base recipe is a summer favorite. Why? Its cooling, refreshing, use it daily to remain fresh, clean, relaxed, and loving the warm weather all day long. A great morning and night soap, a great soap for body, hair, shaving – and especially great for those who run on the warmer side. Here is some information on the essential oils used in this bar of handmade soap.
peppermint essential oil
Peppermint essential oil is known for its cooling, deodorizing, stimulating, and antiseptic properties. A perfect combination for hot and sweaty summer activities. Peppermint has always been a favorite of mine, even before I was into herbs. When I was a kid I looked forward to thanksgiving every year, we would drive from Chicago to St Louis and my aunt would cook a big thanksgiving feast for the whole family. The next morning we would wake up and drink peppermint tea and have pumpkin pie for breakfast. Peppermint tea, also great for digestion – the perfect after thanksgiving beverage.
Rosemary essential OIL
A wonderful ingredient for hair and skin, rosemary essential oil is very regenerative, and also contains antiseptic properties. Another part of the mint family, Rosemary grows vivaciously in this eco-region of Central Texas. A wonderful restorative summer soap for long days at the river – hiking in the wilderness, or even just a night in the backyard with a burning fire. Historically it has been used to improve memory. Will our Mint & Mary bar help you to remember a wonderful summer experience for years to come? It just may, olfactory sensory input is very strong.
Spearmint essential OIL
Spearmint essential oil is very similar to peppermint – boasting antiseptic, restorative, stimulant and insect repelling properties – as do most mints. It is a softer aroma, and the two go very well together. The cooling effects of these mints relax nerves and muscles, wonderful for post-work out showers.
pennyroyal ESSENTIAL OIL
Another Mint, Pennyroyal essential oil has many uses, some of them being extremely disinfectant, a great oil for killing germs, and is commonly used as an insect repellant. This oil us extremely concentrated, as is any essential oil – and should never be used neat (without dilution). Don’t worry, a little goes a long way and we only put a little bit in this bar.
dried spearmint leaves
On top of this bar we feature dried spearmint leaves, organically grown by Johnsons Backyard Garden in Austin, Texas. In most cases if you use this bar in the shower, the leaves on top are just for aesthetic and aromatherapeutic purposes (energizing, stimulating), but if you have a few extra minutes to add to your bathing routine, use this bar in the bathtub for the first time. The spearmint leaves will fall off the bar into the water, and create a bath tea/soak for you – lending its properties to the water.
goats milk soap base
Our goats milk soap base begins with for oils, olive oil, coconut oil, shea butter, and flaxseed oil – we then add pure fresh goats milk. This base recipe will provide lots of nutrients and lather. Visit any of our goats milk soap bar pages to read more about the properties in our goats milk soap recipe and why they are amazing for your skin.
