Natural Kitchen Cleaning Solution Recipe
Creating an effective, natural cleaning solution for your kitchen is easy – all it takes is a few ingredients that you probably already have in your kitchen, or your garden. This is just a basic recipe, and can be modified with any ingredients you have on hand as long as you have the main ingredient – vinegar. This recipe is for kitchen countertops and sinks in particular, though it can be used on many other things as well. If you are looking for a natural dish soap, or cleaning solution for oils/heavier cleaning check out our natural chef bar soap. In either case natural ingredients have just as much, if not more cleaning power than their chemical filled counterparts found in the aisles at the grocery store. This is the recipe I use for kitchen counter top and sink, cleaning, but if you would like to create a cleaner for other areas of your home it is easy to do some research on which natural ingredients will get the job done.
Ingredients:
- 1 mason jar
- peel of 2 oranges
- peel of 2 lemons
- 2 cinnamon sticks
- 2 sprigs of fresh rosemary
- 2 sprigs of fresh sage
- optional: essential oils of your choice.
Method: Wash fresh ingredients and place them in mason jar, fill jar with vinegar. Let this mixture sit on your countertop for 2 weeks, shaking every few days. Strain out liquid and place in spray bottle (if desired). Your natural cleaning solution is ready to go!
Oranges- Naturally antimicrobial, offers its beautiful aroma to the solution.
Lemons- Amazing cleaner for so many reasons, I have a porcelain sink and rub lemon peels directly on the sink for a degreasing, super cleaning action.
Cinnamon– Naturally antibacterial, anti-fungal, antimicrobial, and another beautifully aromatic bark.
Rosemary– Naturally antibacterial, and one of my favorite herbs. Read more about Rosemary on our post about Rosemary Essential Oil.
Sage- Naturally antifungal, antimicrobial, antiseptic and more – often used as a space cleanser when burnt.
