Pine Tar Soap – Shades of Green Limited Edition

Our first Limited Edition soap of the year – we ring in 2023 with one of our best limited editions yet (in my opinion!). Although I usually end up loving every limited edition soap we make, this one feels particularly good…..especially after last weeks ice storm which took out our power for almost 4 days. There is just something about the smoky warmth of this bar, and the rich luxurious lather that puts this pine tar soap at the top of my list.

What is pine tar?

You can the simplest description from the National Library of Medicine, “Pine tar is the end product of pine wood combustion following distillation using extreme heat.” Its a natural soap additive that we stock, and use frequently in custom soap…though its our first time using it in our own line (or our limited edition soap collection).

Why pine tar soap?

Thanks to the writings of Hippocrates and others, we know that pine tar has been used for thousands of years to treat dry flaking skin issues including eczema, psoriasis, and dermatitis. Is it naturally anti-fungal, anti-septic, anti-bacterial, and anti-inflammatory. Pine tar also lends a smoky scent to every bar its used in, even if there are essential oils present. Last but not least, adding pine tar to soap gives each bar a very rich, luxurious lather – making it perfect to use in shampoo bars and shaving bars.
